Style Icons Who Would Wear Blushing Designs

3 Aug

Every designer dreams of having a style icon wear their designs  and sometimes that becomes a reality. Also, many designers may use a style icon as a muse or create an icon out of a muse. We couldn’t help but to image these icons as models of Blushing Designs…

Audrey Hepburn… in the Audrey Dress

We channeled Audrey when we designed the Audrey dress, so we only see fit that she be the icon who represented this dress.

Grace Kelly… 4-Way DressGrace in the 4 way copy

Grace always had that classic 50’s style that reminded us of the 4-way’s A-line shape.

Marilyn Monroe… in the Belinda DressMarilyn in the Belinda copy

Marilyn has an amazing hourglass shape, which is why we chose the Belinda dress to show off her curves.

Twiggy… in the Lucille DressTwiggy in the Lucille copy

Twiggy is the face of Mod fashion, and since the Lucille dress

reminded us so much of the 60’s, we could only imagine her wearing it.

Liz… in the Wrap Dress

Swimsuits for Every Body Type

21 Jul

We all dread bathing suit shopping, but finding the right one for your body type will make you stand out at the beach. Firstly, you need to figure out how to dress for your body type. Below is a diagram of different shapes. The best method is to draw the eye away from the larger areas and accentuate your best assets.

A smaller chest requires less support, so you can look for styles with more minimal coverage or embellished detailing, bows, and patterns to create the illusion of a larger chest.

  • A plunging neckline or eye-catching top draws the eye upward, minimizing the bottom.
  • For a small bust, Triangle tops create the illusion of curves, as do tops with bold prints or embellishments with ruffles.
  • Try bottoms in solid colours so not to draw extra attention to the area.
  • Avoid brazilian or high waisted cuts because you will be constantly adjusting them to get proper coverage.

Inverted Triangle

  • Bra-style tops with underwire and adjustable straps provide extra bust support. The thicker the strap, the more support. Also, look for bathing suits that come in bra sizes versus S,M,L.
  • You can also rock an asymmetrical neckline, which will draw the eye up and away, instead of straight across.
  • For a smaller tush, try bathing suits with ruching to balance out your curves.
  • Avoid ruffles or embellishments up top if you’re hoping to minimize the focus on your chest.

Rectangle

  • Tops or bottoms with bold prints, ruffles, and embellishments  can create the appearance of more curve at top and bottom.
  • Monokinis create fabulous curves, as do one-pieces with slashes or strategically placed cutouts.
  • Suits with less coverage help to create the illusion of a shapelier figure.
  • The smaller the swimsuit bottom, the fuller and curvier the derriere appears.
  • Tie-side bikini bottoms enhance curves and adjust perfectly to your size.
  • Don’t go for straight-across bandeaus, boy-cut briefs or shapeless full-pieces, as this will only enhance your athletic figure.

Whether you prefer to be covered up, or you’re out to slim your middle, there are a number of one-piece and two-piece suits, like high-waisted or tankini styles, that help to smooth out your middle.

  • Gathered fabric hides bulges and creates definition in the waist.
  • If you carry your weight in the lower part of your belly, try on a retro-inspired, high-waisted suit. The trick is to find a pair that covers your belly button to prevent a muffin top.
  • To try and flatter a fuller thigh, opt for bottoms with a little bit more coverage. Bottoms with a skirt can help to conceal part of your upper leg.

Hourglass

  • Asymmetrical suits draw the eye toward the neckline, highlighting the beautiful line from a woman’s neck to her collarbone.
  • Colorblocking can help highlight your shape, as do retro suits (think high waists and boxy halter tops).
  • Go for solid colours so not to distort you proportions and look for tops with good support and underwire
  • If you’re not keen on exaggerating your curves, then steer clear of monokinis or string bikinis with thicker ties, which can accentuate your widest areas.
