It is officially the first day of fall, goodbye summer! We are so excited to bring out our jackets and shop for this beautiful season in Vancouver! One of our favorite pieces to purchase this month is outerwear; we absolutely love how throwing a great jacket can make an outfit completely unique. We have decided to make a list of the top outerwear trends for Fall 2015, with some examples of where to purchase. Let us know what you think!
1.Bomber Jackets
Bomber jackets are an absolutely essential wardrobe piece this season! They offer the perfect amount of warmth for our mild fall season in Vancouver with their lightweight material and often waterproof fabric. This versatile jacket looks great with a pair of skinny jeans, a chic dress or even your favorite pair of Adidas sweats.
2.Capes
Capes are even trendier this year then last, being seen on multiple runway shows for Fall. We love how capes are like being cocooned in a big blanket all day while still looking extremely fashion forward. Throw one over top of your favorite cashmere sweater for a warm and cozy look.
3.Suede Coats
Suede is the new fabric of the it-jacket for fall, being seen worn by all the fashion bloggers and socialites alike. These soft-fabric coats are being offered in a variety of colors and cuts, so you are sure to find one for everyone! Try pairing one with your classic little black dress and booties for a sexy fall look.
4.Fringe Coats
Fringe is here to stay for at least another season or two, whether you like it or not! Fringe adds a retro inspired feel to any outfit and brings the fun into fashion again. We love pairing a fringe coat with a simple white button down and jeans to liven up the outfit.

This story is about a young woman who is struggling with student debt and a plethora of family secrets. The author of The Corrections and Freedom has imagined a world of distinctly original characters and follows their intertwining paths throughout the novel.
2. Mess: One Man’s Struggle to Clean Up His House and His Act by Barry Yourgrau
New York writer Barry Yourgrau struggles with severe clutter and hoarding; this book is about his journey to unpack his home and mind. His project of taking control of his life and extreme hoarding is eye opening to the issue that millions of people face.
3.The Girl in The Spiders Web: A Lisbeth Salander Novel by David Lagercrantz
Despite Stieg Larsson passing away before he was able to finish the fourth manuscript in the Millennium Series, a fellow Swedish novelist who has continued the saga wrote this book! This time, Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist take on a new case involving the NSA.
4. A Windows Open by Elisabeth Egan
This fresh and funny novel by the writer of Where’d You Go, Bernadette and I Don’t Know How She Does It is about what happens when a wife and mother of three decides to fulfill her professional destiny and take a chance – only to learn it comes at a price.
5. Among the Ten Thousand Things by Julia Pierpont
This book is about a girl named Kay who is days away from her 12th birthday and opens a box believing it to be an early present. Unfortunately, the contents turn out to be emails between her father and his young lover. It is a story about anger, betrayal and the despair that follows.

Cara McLeay is the curator behind a Fashion Love Affair and also the Vancouver Localist at Large for FLARE Magazine. She uses the blog to highlight her love of fashion, travel and beauty.
To Vogue or Bust was created on April 13, 2010 by Alexandra Grant after she decided that law school was not for her and she wanted to follow her passion for fashion instead. This blog is truly a lifestyle blog highlighting a variety of fashion, health, beauty and fitness tips.
Alicia Quan created the blog Alicia Fashionista as a place for the millennial woman to go to that seeks travel, fashion, and beauty advice. We love how this blog has a really personal touch to it, and features lots of pictures with her family and friends.
The August Diaries started in August 2011, by Jill Lansky as a creative outlet for herself after attending Blanche Macdonald Center for Fashion Merchandising. Since then, the blog has gained a lot of attention for her simple and classic west coast style that we love so much.
Jen Tam launched the blog Her Waise Choice in early 2010, using it to combine her love of fashion, styling and photography into one creative platform. She has a very feminine and minimalistic style, and aims to inspire the everyday woman with non-intimidating outfit ideas.
We have some exciting new styles that have just hit the floor in Blushing Boutique for Fall ’15! This season we have switched up our usual necklines and added in some different variations of tops. You will have to come in to the store to see all of the latest pieces but here are some of our favorites!
Annabel Dress
This dress has a drop waist with a contrasting black top and black and white check collar. This style of collar is called a peter pan collar and has become very popular on tops and dresses in the past few years. It was also recently seen on the runway at Paul and Joe Fall/Winter ’16. Try styling this piece with a pair of black nylons and leather booties for an easy day to night look!
Reversible Cowl Top
Cowl Neckline tops are forever flattering on all body types, which is why we love them so much! This particular top is reversible to a simple scoop neck, so you can wear it either way depending on your mood! Try pairing this with a bright white skirt to pick up on the beautiful floral pattern in the top and a pair of black stilettos.
Ruffle Neck Top
This top has a truly unique neckline with ruffles going along the back and sides of the collar; they stop midway down and go into a deep scoop. We love how fun this top is while still being office appropriate; try pairing it with a pair of black dress pants and classic high heels for a modern take on work wear.
Sarah Turtle Neck
Turtlenecks have become extremely popular for the past few seasons, and we have seen lots of them on the runway for Fall/Winter ’16. Our version of the turtleneck is in a stretch fabric so it’s not only flattering but also very comfortable! Try wearing it tucked into a slim fitting pencil skirt and add a sparkly necklace to draw more attention to this lovely neckline.
With August coming to a close, we are looking forward to the September long weekend and hoping the sun gods give us a glorious weekend! With Fall finally approaching and a rainy weekend beginning, it is time to start the transition into fall footwear… but that means it’s time for boots!
