3 Blushing Outfits to Take You from Work to Play

31 Jul

Deciding what to wear for a night out is hard enough as it is, adding that you are coming straight from work makes this decision even more difficult! Since this is a dilemma we are often faced with, we have put together three different Blushing outfits that can easily be transformed from classy work attire to fashionable date-night attire. You will be amazed by just how quickly your ensemble can be updated with a few minor changes.

1. The Carmen Dress and Black Blazer

This beautiful off the shoulder Carmen Dress is a super versatile piece. For work we paired it with a black blazer and kept it very classic and simple. For play we added a navy Bronsino belt and a clear teardrop necklace.

2. Ruched Pencil Skirt and Molly Crop Top

This super comfortable and lightweight crop top can be worn backwards or forwards, depending which you prefer! For the work outfit we styled it backwards and tucked into a ruched skirt, we also added a black Bronsino belt. For play we switched the crop top forwards to show some more skin and added a choker-style necklace.

3. The Sophie Dress and White Blazer

We decided to contrast this form-fitting blue Sophie dress with a boxy-style white patterned jacket for work. For night-time we added a very lightweight cream shawl and a gold chunky necklace to add a little sparkle!

Best Hairstyles of Summer 2015

24 Jul

Summer time is a great time to show of your luscious locks without the restrictions of a wooly toque. Here are our favourite hair styles for summer!

Accessorized Do’s

Adding a flower to your hair creates the instant feel of summer. Try a romantic rose, like the picture, or even a flower crown. Accessories are great for up and down do’s, straight, curly, and wavy alike. Dress it up with a sparkly hair barrette for dinner or a party.

Contemporary Crimps

Try a retro look with a new twist by only crimping small sections of the hair. Again, this looks great with any length, but best with straightened hair. This would be great for going out because it doesn’t require much effort but certainly looks like it!

Braiding Details

Try adding a few braids into your do! Spice up any look with some small to medium sized braids. You can do this with a large braid like the picture, in an up-do, or simply with your natural hair down. This looks especially beachy with wavy hair.

Half up-do

Simple, classic, beautiful. The half up look is great with all hair textures and on medium to long hair. Leave you bangs down or try a middle part like the photo to bring out your smile. This is an easy way to walk out the door looking fabulous without adding even 5 minutes to your morning routine.

Swimsuits for Every Body Type

21 Jul

We all dread bathing suit shopping, but finding the right one for your body type will make you stand out at the beach. Firstly, you need to figure out how to dress for your body type. Below is a diagram of different shapes. The best method is to draw the eye away from the larger areas and accentuate your best assets.

A smaller chest requires less support, so you can look for styles with more minimal coverage or embellished detailing, bows, and patterns to create the illusion of a larger chest.

  • A plunging neckline or eye-catching top draws the eye upward, minimizing the bottom.
  • For a small bust, Triangle tops create the illusion of curves, as do tops with bold prints or embellishments with ruffles.
  • Try bottoms in solid colours so not to draw extra attention to the area.
  • Avoid brazilian or high waisted cuts because you will be constantly adjusting them to get proper coverage.

Inverted Triangle

  • Bra-style tops with underwire and adjustable straps provide extra bust support. The thicker the strap, the more support. Also, look for bathing suits that come in bra sizes versus S,M,L.
  • You can also rock an asymmetrical neckline, which will draw the eye up and away, instead of straight across.
  • For a smaller tush, try bathing suits with ruching to balance out your curves.
  • Avoid ruffles or embellishments up top if you’re hoping to minimize the focus on your chest.

  • Tops or bottoms with bold prints, ruffles, and embellishments  can create the appearance of more curve at top and bottom.
  • Monokinis create fabulous curves, as do one-pieces with slashes or strategically placed cutouts.
  • Suits with less coverage help to create the illusion of a shapelier figure.
  • The smaller the swimsuit bottom, the fuller and curvier the derriere appears.
  • Tie-side bikini bottoms enhance curves and adjust perfectly to your size.
  • Don’t go for straight-across bandeaus, boy-cut briefs or shapeless full-pieces, as this will only enhance your athletic figure.

Whether you prefer to be covered up, or you’re out to slim your middle, there are a number of one-piece and two-piece suits, like high-waisted or tankini styles, that help to smooth out your middle.

  • Gathered fabric hides bulges and creates definition in the waist.
  • If you carry your weight in the lower part of your belly, try on a retro-inspired, high-waisted suit. The trick is to find a pair that covers your belly button to prevent a muffin top.
  • To try and flatter a fuller thigh, opt for bottoms with a little bit more coverage. Bottoms with a skirt can help to conceal part of your upper leg.

  • Asymmetrical suits draw the eye toward the neckline, highlighting the beautiful line from a woman’s neck to her collarbone.
  • Colorblocking can help highlight your shape, as do retro suits (think high waists and boxy halter tops).
  • Go for solid colours so not to distort you proportions and look for tops with good support and underwire
  • If you’re not keen on exaggerating your curves, then steer clear of monokinis or string bikinis with thicker ties, which can accentuate your widest areas.

Fashion Trends of 2015 so Far

18 Jul

Believe it or not, we are already over half way through 2015! Who would have guessed some of the trends that have come into play this year? With a huge variety of new styles emerging since the year began, we thought we should review what has come and gone in the fashion world so far. Here are our favorite trends, and links to purchase similar items as pictured.

Shirt Dresses

These dresses were seen on the runway for Spring/Summer 2015 at many shows, including Rebecca Minkoff and Charlotte Ronson. Off the runway, shirt dresses have been transformed with high slits, thick belts and low necklines making them anything but ordinary.

These cropped, wide legged pants are sticking around for another season. We first saw them in Spring/Summer 2014, and they have been an even bigger trend this year. The unique silhouette of culottes make them an exciting and different alternative to regular capris.

It is safe to say that fringe is no longer solely reserved for Halloween costumes with these modern updates. This flirty add-on can bring an entirely different vibe to any outfit. This season we have seen it displayed on a variety of accessories including suede high heels and leather clutches.

Whether you’re a certified gym rat or not, you may have had a desire to start dressing like you’re ready to work out. Activewear as daywear has had a huge increase in popularity as of late. Sleek black Nike sneakers paired with dresses and oversized jogger pants with crop tops are just a few popular combinations this season.

Matching tops and bottoms have had a major comeback in the fashion industry. These coordinate pieces are no longer being seen solely covered in floral prints for children and have been updated into sexy outfits for women of all ages. This summer we have seen the versatility of them and how easy they make putting together an outfit.
